    The antennas look to be Yagi. I have ancient one on my roof that was retired when I got cable . . . and with the advent of HD television I’m using it again to get truly awesome picture quality.

    It was invented in 1926 byShintaro Uda. I have seen one of his early models at the NHK museum in Tokyo.
