Let’s just get it all out in the open.

It’s been a long week, so let’s end with some confession time to clear the slate before the weekend. Drop a comment about your favourite communications pet peeve. We wanna know. Better yet? List your own offenses.

A fast phone number at the end of a three minute voicemail? Spam? Call waiting? Forwards?  Over-explaining? Speech crutches? Corporate jargon? Bad grammar? ALL CAPS? no caps?

  1. All caps and no caps is always sure to offend my editing sensibilities. Too vague or broad subject headings in e-mails (e.g. upcoming meeting) is irritaing. Also on the subject of e-mails: people who overuse “reply all”, when they should just “reply”. Or who always use e-mail when sometimes a phone call would be better.

(My overflowing e-mail inbox is obviously a serious preoccupation for me.)
