The Ultimate Foursquare check-in.

Doug Wheelock, American astronaut, checked into Foursquare from the International Space Station in October. Take that. What do you think about the concept of geo-tagging? What are the benefits? Drawbacks? Who cares? Does anyone? You can read the full BBC article here.

I find the effort to reconnect the internet, which is place-less, with place really interesting. Are we feeling too cyber nomadic?

  1. Can it truly be geo-tagging from space? What if those who landed on the moon had been able to geo-tag, what name would we use, luna-tag?

  2. I guess I’m a little overboard when it comes to privacy, but I’m not sure I could get into Foursquare. The idea of lots of people know where I am feels a little creepy. But clearly I may be in the minority on this since lots of people are using Foursquare happily.
